6 Unexpected Valentine's Day Date Ideas
While a dinner out is a romantic idea for a date, you may be hoping for something a little different for your special night out this Valentine’s Day. If you’re looking for something unusual and unexpected, consider one of these ideas to impress that someone special.
1. Go Dancing
You don’t have to go to the club to have a fun night of dancing. Do something unique like booking a dance class, so you can learn a few new steps. Maybe you’ve always wanted to try the rumba or take a ballroom dance class. Book a class so you can learn together.
You can also go to a local concert where you can dance to your favorite tunes. If you’re lucky enough to score tickets for a big-name artist, you might even gain a few bonus points from your sweetie.
2. Enjoy a Favorite Hobby
Maybe your significant other likes to go hiking or hang out at the shooting range. If you know they have a hobby that you usually avoid doing with them, now is the time to give it a try. This shows that you care about them, and you might surprise yourself and find out that it’s fun.
An option is to sign up for a class in a hobby neither one of you have tried. Perhaps there’s a local cooking class or painting class you could attend. Learning a new hobby together can be exciting and unpredictable.
3. Tour Your City
Most people wait until they take a vacation to go sight-seeing, and they never find out about the fun places to visit in their own cities. Plan the day as if you are a tourist. Check out local museums, shops you’ve never been to or even a café that you didn’t know about.
Include local parks, walking trails and other natural tourist spots in your itinerary. You’ll learn something new about your city and maybe even about each other.
4. Go on a Long Walk
This idea expands on the one before it, but you can plan a long walk or bike ride for this special day. Pack a picnic lunch and plan out a route that will take several hours. To find a fun place for your walk, you can visit a state or national park or look online for local trails in your area. Make it more fun by driving an hour or so to get to your destination.
If you like the idea but don’t have any good places out in nature, you can even plan a walk around your town. Choose an area you don’t frequent to see some new sights.
5. Plan a Spa Day
Put yourself and your partner in the right mood by booking a relaxing day at a local spa. Get the works with a facial, manicure and pedicure, and a massage to help you feel relaxed and beautiful.
The great thing about a spa day is that it helps you get ready for a fun evening out. Most couples don’t get to enjoy a lot of time pampering themselves, so it makes this idea even more special.
6. Find a New Way to Tour the City
Balloon rides are one of the most romantic date ideas when it’s just you two and the tour guide. Look out over your city and see it from a new perspective. You can also take a helicopter tour, which is a fun alternative if you don’t have balloon rides in your area.
For those who have a fear of heights or just want to keep their feet on the ground, you can look for carriage rides or other unique ways to see the city. Some places have trolley tours, train trips or other special modes of transportation.
