Best Places for an Adventurous Road Trip

Adventure awaits you in your new Subaru® Outback as you hit the road and take on some of the most popular outdoor destinations the United States has to offer.

Thanks to the Isle Casino™ Black Hawk’s $100K Quest for Adventure, the idea of a cross-country road trip isn’t just a pipe dream. Starting April 18, you can earn at least one free entry a day and in the end, win a 2016 Subaru Outback. The contest may not end until May 29, but you can begin planning your road trip now by discovering which of the country’s most scenic roadways you’ll want to traverse.

    East Coast
Just 40 miles of Route 6A in Massachusetts will give you an overview of the best that the East Coast of the United States has to offer. Cape Code is the main focal point of the journey, and you’ll experience colorful beach towns with homes dating back to the 1700s, the Nickerson State Park, and plenty of coastal views.

    The South
If a little southern hospitality intrigues you, you definitely won’t want to miss the chance to travel along Blue Ridge Parkway. This 469-mile roadway takes you from Virginia to Tennessee along the Appalachian Mountains. Many people take the trip just to see the colors of the leaves change each season. Along the way, you can make stops at the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia and the Great Smoke Mountains National Park in Tennessee, as well as tour historic Biltmore Estate in North Carolina.

    Middle America
It goes without saying that a road trip through the country isn’t complete without a drive along historic Route 66. You may not have the time or desire to travel all 2,448 miles of the road that runs from Illinois to California, but there is one particular section of ground you’ll want to cover: Route 66’s Singing Road in New Mexico. It runs east from Albuquerque to Moriarty and features a collection of rumble strips along the road that, as you drive over them, cause your vehicle to vibrate to the tune of “America the Beautiful.” There are a few other sites to see along the route, including the historic Sunset Motel.

    West Coast
The Pacific Coast Highway covers 147 miles from Carmel to Morro Bay. Covering almost the entirety of the country’s west coast, you’ll watch as the colors of the Pacific Ocean change from turquoise to deep, dark blue out one window, and glimpse the interiors ever-changing landscape out the other. Along the way, you’ll cross the Golden Gate Bridge, several national parks that focus on the towering Redwoods, the famed Fisherman’s Wharf, Hearst Castle, the Santa Monica Pier and so much more.

    Coast-to-Coast
You can make the most of your road trip by seeing as much of the country as possible in one go. I-90 for over 3,000 miles from Boston, Massachusetts to Seattle, Washington. The interstate takes you through 13 different states and crosses paths with such landmarks as the Great Lakes, Niagara Falls, Mount Rushmore, and Yellowstone National Park. The trip takes just over a week.
With so many scenic roadways covering the contiguous United States, seeing everything you want to see may be something you have to plan out over several trips. Luckily, with a brand new 2016 Subaru Outback in your possession, thanks to the Isle®, you’ve got the perfect travel companion -- a vehicle that will be with you for the long haul.
