Five Tips For Hosting Game Day

If you find yourself taking over hosting duties for your party, save the stress, and enjoy the game with these five helpful tips.

    1. Keep the Drinks Flowing!

Your guests are sure to be parched while cheering on their favorite team. Beer is the number one beverage of choice for sporting events, so be sure to stock up on cold brews. Ask your guests to B.Y.O.B to save costs. Make sure that you have an array of soda and juices for the non-drinkers in your group.

    2. Prepare Dinner in Advance

Prepare slow-cook meals beforehand, so you'll never miss a minute of the game. Chili and stews can be prepared in a slow cooker and kept warm during the celebration. Sandwiches can be served at room temperature and assembled ahead of time for your guests to munch on all night long.

    3. Consider Potluck Options

Even if you're a master chef, you can save time and resources by asking your guests to bring one of their favorite dishes. Feel free to make the main course yourself and specify to guests that they can bring chips or bread if they don't feel like cooking.

    4. Serve Food Buffet Style

Arrange your dishes buffet style. Strategically, set up near the television so guests can grab a bite whenever they please. The last thing anyone wants is to sit at a stuffy table during the game! Place appetizers and snacks on coffee tables around the seating area so your friends and family can munch during gameplay.

    5. Finger Foods For the Win!

Snacks and appetizers are always a winning option when it comes to game day foods. These yummy morsels cut down on cleaning silverware after the party ends. Consider desserts like brownies and cookies for a sweet ending when the game finishes.

    Fantastic Finger Food Recipes

Here are two recipes that we know will please your guests. Each are easy and appetizing!

    GAME-DAY BOWL
Start to finish: 1 hour 25 minutes
    Serves: 12

    2 large egg whites
8 cups snack mix (Asian rice cracker mix or Chex Mix)
    Cooking spray

Preheat oven to 325 F. Coat 3-quart ovenproof bowl with cooking spray.

Beat egg whites and 2 tablespoons water in large bowl with a mixer until slightly stiff and peaked. Add snack mix to mixture and toss until evenly coated.

Pour snack mix into coated ovenproof bowl. Crumple a large sheet of foil into bowl shape about 1/3 size of bowl. Coat the outside with cooking spray and press into snack mix to make a well in the middle and a bowl shape.

Bake entire bowl in oven for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool five minutes. Remove foil and let cool 30 minutes. Invert mixture onto a plate with bowl shape and let cool completely before serving.
